First Photo Shoot

We took Will to have newborn pictures taken when he was a week old. The photographer just uploaded them to her website and they turned out really good! I'm going to have a tough time choosing. The overalls in the first ones belonged to my great uncle and are over 70 years old. I remember dressing my baby dolls in these when I was little.

Will was 2 weeks old on Thursday. We took him to the pediatrician for the first time and he was 7lb 10oz! That means he gained 1lb since Wednesday the 16th. He's also 21.25 inches so he's grown 1/2 inch since birth. He was 75th percentile for height and 50th for weight. I have a feeling he'll catch up on the weight thing though ;)

3 Weeks Makes Quite a Difference!

March 29th at our baby shower

Today

I put on this outfit today to see if I could still wear it since I was only able to wear it once before Will arrived. It looks different on me without a baby belly but I was happy to know that it is still ok to wear in public. I looked back through pictures and was amazed that just 3 weeks ago I was dressed in the same outfit, quite pregnant and unable tie my shoes, and today I'm holding my 9 day old baby. Those last few weeks of pregnancy just drag by because you're so uncomfortable and these last 9 days have flown by! But one nice thing has been the rapid weight loss. Its the best diet I've ever been on! I've lost 29 lbs which is awesome since I only gained 20. I told Brad I should have babies more often if I can eat what I want and still lose weight! One thing the second picture has in it besides our precious little boy is some serious bags under my eyes. Oh well. He's worth it!

One Week Old

Proud big brother Jake

I can't believe a week has passed already! We've had a very busy week and have had something to do every day, which has worn us out! Thankfully he loves his carseat and riding in the car and Brad has been off to drive us around. Monday we took Will back to the hospital for a newborn outpatient visit and we had to take him for another followup yesterday. He was 6lb 6oz on Monday and had gained back up to 6lb 10oz Wednesday! They were very happy with that because they only expect a gain of 1/2 to 1oz per day for nursing babies and he had gained 2oz each day! Today we had professional pictures taken of them and I can't wait to see them! He was so good considering how long we were there and he was awake for many of them. He is already looking fuller in his cheeks to me and I'm sure now that we both have the hang of nursing that he will continue to plump up each day. I wish time would slow down a little though. I'm already sad that now its just 11 weeks until I go back to work :(

Life at Home

We came home Saturday around 1pm and it has been wonderful to be here! Will is a very sweet baby but he did come with a good set of lungs! Luckily he doesn't cry too much and when he does he's usually easily calmed. Brad and I are totally smitten and feel very blessed to have such a beautiful healthy little boy. We've been well taken care of by our family. My mom has been doing laundry and cooking for us and I'm so glad because I think we'd be eating PB&J and cereal if she weren't. And laundry surely wouldn't be done. Brad's parents have come over and watched him while we napped. Then today there was a knock at the door and Brad's dad, my dad and my uncle stood there with a HUGE box and told me we had a special delivery. They bought us a recliner for our living room! We have a glider-recliner in the nursery but we were in need of extra seating in our living room and its so nice to have a comfy spot to put my feet up which are still very swollen. I'm amazed at the generosity of our family.

We gave Will his first bath last night and he did well. Even though I know how to sponge bathe a baby and have seen it done many times, it was awkward to actually give him a bath. I felt so clumsy! We took him to a newborn outpatient appointment at the hospital today and his weight is down a bit and his bilirubi is up which indicates jaundice, but neither are numbers that concern them. We do have to go back Wednesday to recheck his weight. Hopefully it will go up since my milk is in now!

Starting Maternity Leave

I have been so ready to stop working because my feet have been swelling pretty badly and being up on them any length of time is uncomfortable. Other than that, and of course not sleeping well most nights, I've been feeling great! I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and was pretty shocked to find out that I'm 4 cm dilated already! I'm 37 weeks plus 1 day and while I was thinking he'll be here before his due date, I wasn't expecting to be that far progressed already. So he told me to take it easy and no more work! He would like for me to stay pregnant for another week, just to make sure the baby is ready. I'm sure whenever he comes he'll be fine, but I wouldn't mind a week at home to finish up a few things, like our taxes! We do finally have Will's room complete and his hammock to sleep in (instead of a bassinet) so we're ready whenever. I guess I can always file an extension for taxes if I don't get them done. And maybe I can get some good sleep before he comes, too!
