Bargain Shopping

I LOVE shopping for Will's clothes and I really love getting a great deal. Combining the two pretty much delights me. My favorite everyday clothes are Carter's and Gymboree, but for church I prefer to dress him in traditional rompers and jon-jons. I know I won't be able to do it forever, but for now I think they just look so adorable! Over the past couple of months I've found some great deals for this year and next fall/winter. Some of them are from Strasburg, some from Ginger's in Corinth and some from Sweet Dreams in Madison. Most were 75% off and some 30-50% off. If I had paid retail for all items (which I would NEVER do), it would have been nearly $800! But I got everything for about $230, which sounds like a lot, but no too bad for 2 seasons worth of dress clothes. I may have to get some of them hemmed to the right length next year, but I'll still be ahead on price. Check out some of my finds:

From Sweet Dreams

Left - Ginger's, Right - Sweet Dreams

From Ginger's

From Sweet Dreams (only 50% off)

Left - Sweet Dreams, Right - Strasburg (both 75%0ff)

Cute shoes from Sweet Dreams for 75% off - less than $8!!

I did splurge on this one a bit - 30% off at Strasburg. I wanted it for his Easter outfit and this is the cheapest I've see it in a year so I went ahead and got it.

Fun with Photoshop

11 days old (he was so tiny!)

6 months old

Ok, I'm probably behind on technology and I'm sure many of you already know how to do this, but I just figured out how to color tint stuff! I've always loved black and white photos and really love color tinted ones but didn't know how to do it. My Kodak software doesn't have the option and neither does Picasa that I've been able to tell. Brad's parents gave me a digital SLR camera for Christmas and I've been trying to beef up my photography skills. These are old pictures but I didn't have any great new ones to use. I have heard of Photoshop before so I googled it and you can get a free account at photoshop.com and upload some pics and use their editing software. So cool! It's really easy and fun!

9 month checkup

While other people were celebrating the inaguration of Barack Obama, we were at the pediatrician's office. Our little boy is growing! His 9 month stats:

Height: 29 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 24lb 8oz (90th percentile)
Head: 18.5 inches (90th percentile)

He had to get his 2nd flu shot and had some blood drawn for labwork. All this with no nap! He was fussy after the shot but got over it quickly. I took some pictures with Dr. Rogers and his wonderful nurse, Jess, because I realized in the 9 months he's been seeing them, we've taken zero pics! He wasn't too happy in them, but he had reason to be grumpy.

In other news, he started using his Christmas gift this weekend and pushes it all over the living room. It is so adorable! It suprises me when he finds it himself, stands up and starts pushing it. Our Kodak camera died and I'm working on figuring out how to post video from our camcorder, but I promise it will be worth the wait. It is quite possibly one of the cutest things I've ever seen! He will be walking on his own in no time!

Picture this:

Can you guess what's between Jake's legs?

Here's a closer look:

That's right! It used to be a pacifier. Our dogs don't normally tear things up but this it the second pacifier that has been destroyed in a week. Maybe he's desperately trying to get some more attention?

Feeling crafty

Check out the diaper cake I made for a co-worker's baby shower. I think it turned out pretty cute! The "W" stands for "Will" which is what she'll be naming her little boy. Now I know who to hand-me down and "Will" monogrammed stuff to - not like we'll use that name again! I love doing stuff like this but I had to wait until a wee person went to bed. He would have loved to help me I'm sure. Sorry for the blurry pics!

Praying for Harper

Check out www.kellyskornerblog.com and read about and pray for Harper and her family. She had difficulty breathing after birth and has sever pneumonia. I can't imagine having my full term baby whisked away to a NICU in another state right after birth and not being able to hold her. Pray that Harper will make a full recovery and that her parents can bring her home soon.

9 month pictures!

http://www.lynnhavens.com/gallery.php?gallery_id=3373

Will's 9 month pics are up and I think this was the best session yet! If you've got some time to kill, check them out. If you have extra time to kill, click on the 'portfolio' link on the left of the screen and then 'sharp 10/26' toward the top of the list to see his 6 month session. I didn't share those because they were Christmas gifts and didn't want to ruin the suprise.

Magdalena

I do not know the Roberts family personally, but I have been reading about their precious baby since right before she was born. She went to be with Jesus this morning and I can't imagine the heartache her parents are feeling. Please pray for them.

Fun with Uncle Sam

Making funny faces
Blowing on his fingers

Checking out what's going on outside

Will likes his Uncle Sam. They had lots of fun together. It's too bad we live 3 hours away or they could hang out more often.

Blessed

Yesterday I went to the grocery and came out nearly $200 poorer, nearly half being for baby items. It was pouring rain and I was aggrivated because I didn't have my umbrella and I had to walk around cars stopping to pick people up at the door. But as I got to my vehicle, I realized I should not be grumbling about this experience. I should be thanking God for being so blessed. I am blessed because I have money to buy groceries with. I have a husband who I adore at home watching our precious baby while I shop. I have a baby to buy formula and diapers and veggie puffs for. I have a vehicle to drive and a house to drive it to. There are so many people around the world hurting because they're homeless, jobless, infertile, lonely and/or broke. And I'm grumbling because of a little rain got my clean clothes and brand name shoes wet. And the best part of all is that I know Jesus. He can take away all my hurt and pain and shame. So many people don't know Him and may never hear the gospel in their lifetime or may reject Him. Do you know Jesus? Are you blessed?
