The first thing you need to do when you decorate cookies is grab one to snack on while you work.
Then take a nice big bite.
Be sure to smile for the camera and proudly show off your icing 'stache!
Don't worry about getting the sprinkles directly on the cookies. The wax paper or counter tops will do just fine.
But if you want them on the cookies, just smash the sugar crystal shaker directly on the cookie. Pick it up if you want. The cookie will come with it.
Pour a nice glass of milk and put your masterpieces out for the big guy.
